NSW Hang Gliding State Titles 2024: Where the Fun Continues.

Foot launch into a big sky, AA grade competition.

The New South Wales Hang Gliding State Titles is an annual AA Grade hang gliding competition held each February/March in Manilla, Australia's premier foot launch X-C soaring site.

This summer season, the NSW State Titles will be held from Sunday, 11th February through to Saturday, 17th February 2024, with sign in and practice day on Saturday, 10th February. The comp attracts the best of the best from Australia, and around the world, so is the ideal site for up and coming pilots to learn from those at the top of their game. It is also the ideal comp for newer pilots wishing to fly big air and fly big flights.

Note: Mt Borah is on private property and a site fee applies. You must join Manilla Sky Sailors Club to fly at this comp. NSW pilots are free but out of state pilots must pay by PayPal. Click here for Manilla Sky Sailors Membership. https://members.hgfa.asn.au/clubs/checkout.php?data=0X0X1X1X47RHpOemdFZ…

The competition will have three different classes namely:
* Open
* Floater
* Best of the rest

The top placed New South Wales pilot in the Open class will be crowned New South Wales champion.

We also have the Dave Sieb award, a perpetual trophy in honour of the fun loving and loyal competitor that Dave was.

HQ is the Royal Hotel, Manilla

Practice Day and Evening Registration 6.00pm Saturday, 10th February 2024

Competition begins with daily briefings at HQ at 9.00am Sunday, 11th February to Saturday 17th.

All pilots are required to have a VHF endorsement and use of VHF radio is compulsory. It is each pilots responsibility to ensure they adhere to this.

In the past we have applied for exemption of VHF use. CASA has recently tightened the regulations and the amount of work that needs to be done to achieve exemption is now beyond me. Please see the linked page for demands made this year.

Notes

Do not land in fields with crops, ever! Do not land in fields with livestock wherever possible. There is ample landing area that has no crops or stock, do not upset the landholders.

Check and double check landing areas. Single strand electrical wires abound in this area and are invisible from the air. They may span for extreme distances across paddocks with very few poles. Any buildings, dams and especially pump houses should be treated with extreme suspicion.

All households in this area use UHF CB for communications when out and about on the farm and in town. Your radio chatter WILL be heard (all channels are used somewhere) and the whole competition judged accordingly. Please be polite and courteous at all times. Keep transmissions short, sharp, and to the point with no unnecessary chatter.

To legally use the Ham frequencies, you MUST use a callsign for every transmission (which means you MUST have a valid callsign).

Leave all gates as you found them, if the gate was open then do not close it. Leave all areas as you found them. Take litter with you (even other peoples).

Treat this country area and its people well and you will no doubt be treated the same.

NHGC Cancellation Policy

The NHGC club reserves the right to charge an administration fee for cancellation of NHGC competition registration and request for refund.

The fee will be to cover any out of pocket expenses incurred by the cancellation such as the cost of the T-Shirt ordered and cost of postage to the competitor who cancelled, any bank fees incurred (PayPal charges etc.) These costs will be detailed by the NHGC.
